MOSI OA TUNYA NP
Zambia
Explore
Victoria Falls National Park is a tiny piece of protected land surrounding Victoria Falls, one of the world’s three great waterfalls. Situated in western Zimbabwe in the town of Victoria Falls, the views are incredible and you can follow a path right along the edge of the gorge. The mighty Zambezi creates a roar and a huge spray of mist that can be seen from many miles away. Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park is located between Livingstone and the Zambezi River, and at only 66 km2 (25mi2) is Zambia’s smallest national park. What makes this park unique in Zambia is that it’s the only wildlife area with white rhinos. These are closely protected from poachers by the scouts from DNPW (Department of National Parks and Wildlife). It extends from the Batoka Gorge and continues along the Zambezi River, just above Victoria Falls. Livingstone itself borders on several ancient wildlife migration routes and river crossing points, some of which are still frequented by elephants. A few of these fall within the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, where wildlife can be found throughout the year, especially elephants during the drier months. Helicopter Safari over the Zambezi River and the mighty Victoria Falls. Cruise along the legendary Zambezi, looking for hippos, crocs, elephants, and a dazzling array of birds. Follow your scout on a rhino walk, for a momentous encounter with this endangered species. Launch yourself into the gorge on a bungee jump, go white-knuckle white-water rafting, swing through the trees on a zipline, or see the Victoria Falls from above in a helicopter. Though just gazing rapturously at the Falls, as David Livingstone and others did centuries ago, is pleasure enough.
